Senator Romano moved to amend the bill on page two, section two, line thirty-three, after the word “Commissioner” by changing the semicolon to a colon and inserting the following proviso:  Provided, however, That such policies, requirements and interpretations shall include a requirement that insurers on a life or endowment insurance policy or an annuity shall annually search the United States Social Security Administration’s Death Master File or any other database or service that is at least as comprehensive for determining that a person has reportedly died to determine whether its insureds have died and, therefore, an obligation to pay exists.
